How To Know A Bad Fuel When Buying At The Pump

Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, the air pollution has been on the rise due to fast increasing use of fossil fuels. In particular, the automobile sector has emerged as a major consumer of fuel oil and a major contributor to air pollution.

The problem is essentially global in nature as the tail pipe emissions of automobiles result in an increase in the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere leading to global warming.

There are two types of fuel available today: Leaded fuel and Unleaded fuel. Unleaded fuel is a more environmentally friendly fuel and helps your vehicle run well as in contrast to Leaded fuel that is harmful to health and the environment which can cause costly damage to your vehicle.

Due to greed and corruption in Nigeria, some fuel marketers indulge in selling bad adulterated fuel to maximize their profits. Testing for bad fuel is easy and effective. While buying fuel at the pump, take a sheet of tissue or filter paper and drop a little quantity of fuel directly from the nozzle on it. If the petrol is unadulterated, it will evaporate quickly without leaving any stain. If it is adulterated, it will evaporate slowly, leaving a stain on the tissue or filter paper.

Always be vigilante so you don’t incur costly damage to your vehicle. Feel free to drop your observation for the benefit of others.
