This is a question many car owners probably would have asked at one point or another. Choosing to have your vehicle repainted requires an investment of money and time. Paint jobs don’t only make your car look like new, it enhances the exterior durability significantly. But how often should we be doing this?

Before you think about painting your vehicle, there are things you must first consider. Generally when doing a paint job, you should expect your car to be at a paint shop for a week, this means your car will be ground for sometime.

It’s important to have realistic expectations with repainting or paint repair. Sometimes new paint has the opposite effect, if you want to paint over damaged part without fixing it properly, a fresh coat of shiny paint can actually make that obvious to see. The auto body shop should first remove the old paint on the car and fix any damage that is present before repainting. This requires a lot.

You’ll need to select a type of paint to use. The three kinds of paint commonly utilized on vehicles are acrylic, urethane, and metallic. Acrylic paint doesn’t require much effort to apply. Once on your vehicle, this type of paint looks glossy. However, acrylic paint isn’t very durable due to its soft finish. Urethane paint is sprayed on your vehicle. It dries extremely fast. Unlike acrylic paint, urethane paint will stand the test of time. So, it’s a great option for those who plan to keep their cars for several years. Metallic paint is a popular choice for people who own sports cars. While it conceals scratches seamlessly, metallic paint is hard to repair.

Vehicle painting needs planning and preparation and should be coated depending on the environment where it’s located, where it is used, your time and your resources. If you wax your car less often, you may need repainting every five years. But regular waxing may take you up to ten years before you may think of repainting.
