Uses Of Hazard Lights

All vehicles today are fitted with electronic indicator lights primarily for safety purposes. Some automobile brands are taking further steps in developing more advanced indicator light technology. Whatever you choose to call it, Harzard lights, Double pointer lights or Trafficator lights. This feature is very crucial to all cars and should always be working. Uses of the Hazard lights include.

As the name suggests, you use Hazard lights in an event that the car becomes a hazard to other road users. You may use your hazard warning lights if your vehicle is stationary, broken down, had an accident or run out of fuel to warn on coming traffic that there’s a temporary obstruction on the road.

While your car is on the move, you should only use your hazard lights to warn drivers behind of an obstruction up ahead. Hazard lights are also necessary for use when your tail lights or head lights are not working, this is to warn other drivers when visibility is poor either during bad weather or at night. However, the lights should only be used for a period of time that is long enough for the warning to be noticed by other drivers.

Do not use your hazard lights when being towed unless you’re on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway and you need to warn other drivers of something. Never use hazard lights as an excuse for dangerous or illegal parking.
