Why You Should Never Drive An Automatic Car Downhill While on Neutral

Automatic cars are amazing, right? They make driving easier and more comfortable than ever before. But there are a few things you need to know before you hit the road in an automatic car. For one, never drive an automatic car downhill while on neutral. It is well accepted that leaving the car in neutral while driving would save fuel consumption. Nevertheless, doing so is risky. You’ll have less control over the car once you shift into neutral. In a dangerous circumstance, this can end up being life-threatening.

Secondly, always make sure you know what gear your car is in. Many automatic cars have different gears that allow the engine to run differently at different speeds and RPMs. This can mean that you could be driving with too much power or not enough if you’re not aware of the gear your car is in. If something goes wrong while your car is in a high-speed, for example, an engine overrevving because it’s still in first gear may end up causing damage or even injury to yourself and others on the road.

Automatic cars are amazing, but like every other things they’re not perfect. Make sure you take the time to understand how your car works before getting behind the wheel and drive safe!
