Why Is There Insulation On The Underside Of The Hood?

There are various uses for the insulation on the hood’s underside. One of the key reasons is to make the road trip more comfortable for the passengers by reducing engine noise and vibrations that enter the passenger compartment.

The insulation also aids in protecting the hood’s paint from the high temperatures produced by the engine. It serves as a heat barrier to keep the hood from getting too hot and perhaps breaking.

By reducing heat transfer from the engine to the environment and enabling the engine to run at ideal temperatures, the insulation also contributes to increased fuel efficiency.

Now you know how important this insulator is. So when next you see this on the underside of the hood, make sure it is kept intact.
